Below are the dogs currently available in the Austin, TX area. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis and a home visit is required. The adoption fee for most of these dogs is $200, puppies are $250, seniors $150; if a dog is not spayed or neutered we require a $75 deposit, which is refundable once surgery is performed.
The page is updated regularly, please scroll to the bottom of the page to see all of our available dogs.
Also, [Application Pending] means the dog does have an application, but backups are welcome and [Adoption Pending] means the dog is in an adoptive home on the trial period, but has not yet been adopted so we will still accept applications until the adoption is finalized.
We've recently had significant medical expenses for some of our hounds. If you would like to help with these expenses, please consider making a donation to Hound Rescue! For more donation options, see our Donate page.
Joey is a 11 years young beagle/cocker mix looking for his forever home! Don't let his age fool you; he's still an energetic dog who can chase a ball for hours. Joey's previous owner raised him since he was a puppy, but unfortunately had to go to a nursing home when she could no longer take care of him. Joey craves attention, loves to snuggle, and is an excellent lap dog. He's used to being the king of the castle and will need a patient and loving home willing to work with him and his strong sense of ownership over toys and treats. He is house trained, walks well on a leash, gets along well with dogs and cats, and would do best in a home with no children.
If you're looking for an energetic and lovable dog, Joey might be the guy for you!

Champ is a 9-year-old sweetheart. He came to Hound Rescue exhausted after spending some time on his own, but he clearly has not always been on his own. He is house trained, knows and follows basic commands, and just wants to sleep and be near his people. He gets along well with kids and only seems to chase cats when they run. He enjoys his walks, sitting in the sun, rolling in grass, and driving in the car.
Champ is a bit hard of hearing, not unusual for an older dog. He would do better as an only dog due to a bit of food aggression. He would also love for his family to work out of the house or be retired. He misses his people when they are gone.
Champ is looking ready for his forever home!

Sometimes we come across a dog that pulls on our heartstrings. In this case it was a bonded pair of girls, Julie and Faith. These ladies were owner surrendered by an owner that could no longer care for them. Faith and Julie are a team; where one goes the other follows! These sweet girls love to just hang out and chill. Food, water, soft beds and some cuddles are all these gals need. However, couch privileges are appreciated. These seniors are heartworm positive and too aged for typical treatment. We are hoping to find just the right place for the lovely ladies to spend their remaining years. Oh, no cats please.

Ellie is a petite 9 year old beagle looking for a very special home. This sweet girl does not ask for much and while very curious, she is not mischievous. Ellie is a little shy and apprehensive when approached. But with the right family, she will learn to trust. Ellie can be vocal when she has something to say. We are working on house training and how to use the doggy door.

Chica is a sweet, calm, shy and, as the best are, a little bit of a stubborn beagle mix. She's vocal - loves to talk to you and tell you about her day, but not a barker. She can be a bit shy when meeting new people / pups, but she does warm up to petting. Chica is a true housedog, she is housetrained, but once her business is done it's back inside to snuggle in her dog bed. Chica loves settling in in her own bed and has shown no inclination for laps, for example.
Given her independence, we think Chica would do best in a home with adults or older children only, she would be overwhelmed by little humans. She's doing great with all the other dogs in her foster home, but is chill and likes to stay out of the fray. Anyone looking for an easy-peasy, calm little girl should take a chance on Chica. Plus, she's just downright adorable!
