Joey

Joey is a 10 years young beagle/cocker mix looking for his forever home! Don't let his age fool you; he's still an energetic dog who can chase a ball for hours. Joey's previous owner raised him since he was a puppy, but unfortunately had to go to a nursing home when she could no longer take care of him. Joey craves attention, loves to snuggle, and is an excellent lap dog. He's used to being the king of the castle and will need a patient and loving home willing to work with him and his strong sense of ownership over toys and treats. He is house trained, walks well on a leash, gets along well with dogs and cats, and would do best in a home with no children.

If you're looking for an energetic and lovable dog, Joey might be the guy for you!

Patriot loves being outside and has a great deal of fun romping around the yard with the two dogs in his foster home, then chilling out in front of the TV on his favorite dog bed. He is scheduled for heartworm treatment in late July, then should be good as new after a 4-6 week recovery period. Patriot will be happy to find his perfect home!

Please note, a high speed camera may be needed to capture Patriot's extremely happy tail wagging!

Charlie

Charlie is a handsome young hound mix with beautiful reddish-brown and black coloring and amber eyes. He stands a little taller than a Beagle (about 18 inches at the shoulder) and, once he's fully filled out, will be about 30 lbs. He has all the energy and curiosity you would expect of an "adolescent", combined with a friendly and affectionate personality. He is housebroken and crate-trained, and his foster family is working with him on basic obedience. He is also learning to walk on a leash, and he is on his way to becoming a great exercise partner. Charlie is in a foster home with two mature Beagles who are helping him improve his social skills. While he is friendly and playful with the other dogs, he is working on respecting their space boundaries and sharing attention from the humans. He is content to play with chew toys and towels, so the furniture and shoes around his foster home are safe!

Overall, Charlie is a strong and healthy boy. However, he is Heartworm positive and is undergoing the initial stages of treatment.

Riley

Hello, my name is Riley, but my foster family calls me Smiley… Rub my belly, and you will find out why. I am a 100% house trained beagle girl who is looking for a loving forever home. I have excellent manners, know basic commands, crate and leash trained. I am very friendly and getting alone well with people (including children), dogs, and cats! I am living in a foster home with 2 beagle sisters, 2 cats and my human foster brother. I love chewable bones and keep myself busy “working”on them for a long time. I am 5 years old and love to stay active. I am currently working hard on losing some extra weight, and will appreciate your help with that! Can’t wait to meet my family!

Max

Max is a 7 year old puggle. He was our first "son". He's moved around with us from NJ, to VA, to Texas. He needs a home that does not have young children. He has grown increasingly jealous of our toddler. He is energetic--loves playing in the yard or with his toys--and also loves to cuddle and sleep! Like most pugs he is very food motivated---and will never miss a meal or opportunity for a snack or treat! He is house broken.

Phil

Phil is a complete goofball. His antics will have you in stitches! The shelter says he is a 1 year old hound mix. He is very shy and timid especially in situations unfamiliar to him. Once he warms up, Phil is not shy about asking for attention and will snuggle right up to you. We believe he was a caged as he is still trying to figure out how his legs work and how to act like a dog. Phil is house and dog door trained. He is learning how walk on a leash and simple commands. Phil gets along great with the other 5 canines in the house. Although he has not been around young children, nothing in his behavior indicates this would be an issue. Phil is a real sweetie just looking for a furr-ever home.

Eddie

Eddie is an extremely mellow and intelligent dog. He immediately fit right into our family. He gets along great with our other dogs and is even understanding of our somewhat grumpy senior citizen (20 year old) Chihuahua mix. Eddie also does pretty well with our cat. He occasionally wants to chase her but is easily redirected by being told no or to go lay down; they seem to have come to a truce and for the most part he just ignores her. Eddie knows several commands. He is completely house trained and has never had an accident. He knows how to use a dog door to get in and out. Eddie’s only vice is that he is a chow hound - he loves food and is constantly looking for it. He is very good at begging/dancing for food and treats as the photo below shows. Another positive about Eddie is that he is not a barker. The only two occasions he barks for are if someone is at the door, he will bark exactly four times to let you know, and occasionally if he is trying to play with his foster brother, Max. If he is not sitting at our feet wanting attention, he will go and lay down in one of the beds. We have gotten to the point where there is a dog bed in the living room and bedrooms because he likes to have a place to lay that is still close to everyone. Eddie has been an absolute delight to have in our home, there isn’t a day that has gone by that we haven’t enjoyed having him around.
