Hound Rescue started in Austin, Texas in 1998. We are a small group of individuals who foster dogs in our homes. The Houston branch became so large that it formed its own rescue in 2003.
Our beagles come from high-kill facilities where they were scheduled to be euthanized. Because of the huge numbers of unwanted dogs, Hound Rescue can only work with facilities in or near Austin and San Antonio, Texas.
If you are looking to give up your hound, please read BREW's Giving Up your Beagle page. Hound Rescue does not have an active program to accept owner surrenders, so we encourage you to work with no-kill facilities if you cannot keep your pet. For legal reasons we also cannot accept found strays. If you have found a stray, please have it scanned for a microchip and notify, or take it into, your local animal control facility, as that is where most families will look first for their missing pets.
If you are experiencing behavioral issues we are always happy to offer suggestions or help you find a trainer so you can keep your pet with your family.
Please also check out our Links page for other possible resources.
We are always looking to add foster homes to our network. For additional information about the organization or fostering, please send us email at: firstname.lastname@example.org and watch the site for future updates.
